Missing You on the Farm

Missing You on the Farm

In the middle of a corn field

In the pollen windswept air
In the stalks so tall and tasseled
I can see you standing there.

In the soybean fields, a plenty
In the midst of golden wheat
In the miles of soft green pasture
You have made my life complete.

In the middle of a meadow
In amongst the fowl and swine
In the scent of fresh alfalfa
You still touch this heart of mine.

In the sultry heat of summer
In a barn all filled with straw
In an acre filled with clover
I still shake my head in awe.

In the dusk of day I see you
On a tractor, John Deere green
In a pair of dusty work boots
You still make for quite a scene.

In your faded jeans up yonder
In a golden field you roam
In the distance I can see you
God has called a farmer home.
